The 5.5E from Tron Helicopters is a modern design that meets not only high performance goals the market demands, but unique and elegant aesthetics. It’s lightweight design, of 1315 grams (2.89lbs), aids in reducing disc loading and helping reduce crash costs by eliminating heavy elements such as boom supports from a conventional design. While light and nimble, the 5.5E is also incredibly robust and stiff, providing pilots with a responsive model that can handle any maneuver with ease.
With a wide array of electronic choices, the 5.5E easily fits them all. Motors that are sized in 3225, 4020, or 4025 series will fit, and can accept ranges of 1000-1350kV thanks to it’s plethora of gearing options. Both 5mm and 6mm motor shafts are supported, so regardless if you are re-using a motor, or installing a new one, there is a pinion available to match any motor choice. Commonly, a 6s class battery between 5000-5500mAh is recommended, but for pilots looking for pure performance, the Tron is ready for 8, 10, or even 12s, and offer the needed optional gearing and frame spacers to accommodate even the largest of batteries. With the ability to house such sheer power, special design was focused on the gearing, and the motor pinion is supported with a bearing to aid in reduction of wear and consistent mesh performance.
Overall the frame of the 5.5 is expertly thought out in regards to not only servo geometry, but wire routing as well. Simple cable routing with various options found in the design of the frames offers pilots a clean looking installation thanks to it’s modern and functional design. Additionally, Tron 5.5E accepts both full size and mini size tail servos, allowing you to use anything available on the market within this class.
Built as a 550 class helicopter, it’s performance will leave you wanting to fly battery after battery. Keeping an eye on things in flight couldn’t be easier either, thanks to it’s high visibility canopies offered. Kits are offered with orange canopies, and pilots can purchase either green or yellow canopies as well to meet their preference on color and style.
